Venezuela held parliamentary elections on the 6th. It is reported that 107 political parties and more than 14,000 candidates will compete for 277 seats.
The Venezuelan Parliament is unicameral and has the power to make laws, supervise the government and public administration according to law, declare amnesty and approve the national budget.
The ruling Socialist Party of Venezuela seeks to regain parliamentary control.
Analysis suggests that the election results may stir up Venezuelan politics and even affect the next U.S. government’s policy towards Venezuela.
