December 26th – On the 25th local time, Irish health officials said that mutant coronavirus had been detected.

According to Reuters, Ireland’s chief medical officer Tony Holohan said in a statement that the mutant novel coronavirus was detected at the National Virus Laboratory of the University of Dublin.

Horohan said the sample tested came from the weekend, meaning the virus emerged around December 12-14 and “further testing will be taken in the next few days to determine the spread of the virus.”
