According to a report by Russian News Agency on the 26th, the US Treasury Department announced that the US has once again expanded sanctions against Iran.

This round of sanctions includes the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, two ships and 10 other entities, as well as eight individuals including the Minister of Petroleum. , National Iranian Oil Company and National Iranian Tanker Company were also included in the sanctions list.

According to the reasons given by the US Treasury Department, the blacklisted individuals are related to the recent sale of gasoline by Iran to Venezuela.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin accused in a statement that “the Iranian regime used the oil sector to fund the destabilizing activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.”

After Trump announced that the United States had unilaterally withdrawn from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement signed by former President Barack Obama and began to re-impose sanctions lifted under the agreement, tensions between the United States and Iran continued.

According to a previous report by Agence France-Presse, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed new sanctions on five Iranian entities last Thursday, on the grounds that they accused them of “brudishly trying to interfere in the U.S. election.”

The U.S. Treasury Department accused these organizations of “sowing the seeds of discord among the voters by spreading false information on the Internet and carrying out malicious actions aimed at misleading American voters.”
