United Kingdom and European leaders will hold their second telephone meeting in 48 hours on the afternoon of the 7th

At noon local time on the 7th, British Sky News reported that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hold a conference call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at 4 p.m. London time on the same day to hold further consultations on the ongoing negotiations on the future relationship between Britain and Europe in Brussels.

The report pointed out that this is Johnson’s second telephone conversation with von der Leyen in the past 48 hours to assess whether the two sides are eligible to reach a post-Brexit transition trade agreement.

On the 5th of this month, the two had an hour-long telephone meeting on the issue, and then issued a joint statement saying that the two sides would continue to return to the negotiating table with a view to seeking an Anglo-European trade agreement.

At present, fishing rights, fair competition conditions and performance management in British waters remain the three final challenges outstanding in the negotiations between the two sides.

Since March this year, Britain and Europe have been negotiating trade, hoping to determine the future economic and trade relations between the two sides before the end of the Brexit transition period on December 31 this year.
