Ukrainian medical experts: There is no indication that the coronavirus was produced by artificial recombination techniques

Aug. 16 2021 Ukraine’s Interfax news agency recently published an article by Ukrainian medical experts on the source of the coronavirus, pointing out that there is no indication that the coronavirus was produced by artificial recombination technology.

The author of this article is Solovyev A. Yi, Director of the Department of Cell Signaling Systems and Experimental Therapeutic Pharmacology of the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, and medicinal doctor, who has twice won the National Science and Technology Award of Ukraine.

By tracing the variation and evolution of the coronavirus family, the authors study and analyze the source of the coronavirus from a pathological and biological point of view, and in conjunction with the research reports of other international scholars, conclude that there is no indication that the coronavirus was produced using artificial recombination techniques, most likely as a result of evolution in nature.

The article said there was no indication in the genome of the coronavirus that it had evolved in the laboratory. Instead, there are clear signs that the virus evolved under the influence of human immunity, and before the outbreak in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019. This means looking for people who have been infected with a type of coronavirus (or similar virus) by the fall of 2019.

The article also addressed “conspiracy theories” that former U.S. President Donald Trump has accused the coronavirus of coming from China. In April 2020, The article noted, Trump claimed that the virus was either produced in a lab at the Wuhan Virus Research Institute or stored there, readily available and “leaked.” But U.S. intelligence officials counter that they have no evidence that the virus was human-origin.

Some scientists say they still believe that viruses are a variant that “jumps” from animals, which is preferable to the “escape or leak” theory and “artificial” viruses, the article said. Scientists hope that these theories will be the subject of sufficient academic debate. The authors agree, saying that “scientists seem to be more likely than politicians to agree”.

Finally, the article points out that the source problem of coronavirus is global and needs to be taken seriously. Otherwise, the next pandemic could place a huge burden on the global economy and lead to the collapse of the global financial system.
