January 25th – On January 23rd local time, a cutting-edge MQ-1C “Grey Eagle” of the U.S. Army made an emergency landing in the outskirts of Agadez, Niger, due to a mechanical failure.

Photos show that the drone was parked in the pasture and a “Hellfire” missile was hung under the wings.

According to the U.S. Military Times, the U.S. African Command said that the U.S. military is protecting the scene and recycling the drone.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

It is understood that the MQ-1C “Grey Eagle” drone, developed by General Atomic Energy Company of the United States, is an improved version of the “Predator” drone, which has improved the equipment of reconnaissance and monitoring technology.

The “Grey Eagle” can stay in the air for 25 hours, with a top speed of 309 kilometers per hour and a top flight altitude of more than 8,800 meters.

It can carry a variety of weapons such as “Prison Fire”, “Spur” missiles and “Snake Raid” glider bombs.
