April 6th, local time, European Council President Michel said on social media that he had arrived in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, with European Commission President von der Leyen, and was ready to hold talks with Turkish President Erdoğan on the future of Euro-Turkish relations. Michel reiterated that to build a more constructive European-Turkish relations agenda, it is necessary to continuously decompress the regional situation.
A spokesman for the European Commission said earlier on the 6th that Michelle and von der Leyen will also make a joint statement at the seat of the EU delegation after concluding their talks with Erdoğan.
According to the previous information disclosed by Turkey to AFP, the two sides may discuss issues such as escalating the Eurkey Customs Union, updating the EU-Turkey Declaration, and Turkey’s reaffirmation of Turkey’s willingness to join the EU.
