Two accomplices in South Korea’s “Room N” sexual crimes were sentenced in the first instance.

January 21st local time, the Central District Court of Seoul, South Korea, made a first-instance judgment on the two accomplices in the sex crime case of “Room N” in South Korea, and sentenced the suspect Kang Xun to 15 years in prison, and another suspect Han to 11 years in prison for the charges of producing and disseminating pornographic materials and coercion.

Previously, the Seoul Central District Court of South Korea sentenced the main offender of the case to 40 years in prison on November 26, 2020, and the remaining accomplices were sentenced to 5-15 years in prison.

Since 2019, the sexual crime case of “Room N” has attracted great attention from South Korean society after being disclosed by the South Korean media.

The suspect spread the relevant content in the chat room of the instant messaging software Telegram by coercing the victim to shoot pornographic videos and other means to make profits.

The names of the chat room are sorted by numbers, collectively referred to as “Room N”.

At the end of March 2020, the South Korean police set up a special investigation team to investigate the case.

At the end of December, the South Korean police’s “Network Sexual Offence Investigation Headquarters” announced that a total of 3,575 suspects were investigated and 245 of them were detained in nine months.

While the police are deeply investigating, South Korean courts are also hearing the case and sentencing them one after another.

According to South Korean police, 1,154 confirmed victims of the “Room N” incident, including a large number of minors, more than 60% of the victims were under the age of 20.
