Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday that Turkey will build a border wall in four border provinces bordering Iran.
According to Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported that Erdogan 18 in a joint interview with a number of media on the issue of illegal immigration, said that recently, with the increase in the number of illegal immigrants, Turkey has taken many different measures to maintain border security. A border wall is planned for the provinces of Aleppo, Hakkari, Van and Erdel, which border Iran.
At present, the construction of the border wall in the provinces of Aleppo and Erdel has been completed, half of the work in Hakkari province has been completed, and the construction of the border wall in Van province is being stepped up. Now that 157 km of the border wall has been completed, the remainder of the construction will be completed as soon as possible.
Erdogan stressed that the border wall was built not only to stem the flow of illegal immigrants, but also to combat terrorism. The border wall consists of a three-meter-high concrete wall and a one-meter-high barbed wire fence, he said, and is equipped with thermal imaging cameras and lighting systems.
In addition, in order to monitor illegal immigration activities in a timely manner, Turkey is building electronic watchtowers and communication towers on the eastern border.
