Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs: U.S. warships will go to the Black Sea through the Turkish Strait

by YCPress

April 9th, local time, a source from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the United States had notified Turkey diplomatically that two U.S. warships would go to the Black Sea through Turkey’s straits.

Sources from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Turkish journalists that two U.S. warships will pass through the Turkish Strait on April 14 and April 15, respectively, and will stay in the Black Sea until May 4 and May 5.

Recently, CNN quoted U.S. Department of Defense officials as saying that the United States is considering sending warships to the Black Sea to show its support for Ukraine.

Under the Montreux Convention, the United States, as a non-Black Sea country, requires notification to Turkey before its warships pass through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles.
