April 29th, Turkey’s Interior Ministry announced that Turkish security forces had begun a new round of counter-terrorism operations in the country’s southeastern provinces of Sirnak and Hakkari to hunt down PKK members. A total of 5,280 members of the Turkish security forces were involved in the operation.

Just about five days ago, on April 24, local time, the Turkish armed forces launched ground and air operations against Kurdish forces in northern Iraq, using artillery, helicopters, drones and other weapons in addition to F-16s.

Over the years, Turkey has repeatedly crossed the border against Kurdish forces, in addition to continuing its counter-terrorism operations at home.
