According to Reuters local time on February 8, Trump’s impeachment case will continue this week. The U.S. House of Representatives will hold a four-hour debate on the legality of Trump’s second impeachment on February 9 local time.
Starting Wednesday (10th), the Senate will hold a maximum of 32 hours of debate.
On February 8th, local time, former President Trump’s lawyer submitted a briefing before the start of the Senate impeachment trial.
The briefing quoted Trump lawyers as attacking the impeachment on multiple grounds, saying that it was unconstitutional and must be rejected.
Trump lawyers believe that the impeachment is a “political drama” behavior of American Democrats.
On January 13, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the impeachment clause, accusing former President Trump of “sedition” in the January 6 impact on the Capitol.
Trump became the first president in American history to be impeached twice in his term.
Affected by the January 6 incident, the 2.5-meter-high railing around the U.S. Congress has not been removed, and thousands of members of the National Guard patrol near Capitol.
Congressional police have confirmed that the level of security protection will not be lowered until the impeachment trial is completed.
