Trump asks Pentagon to withdraw 2,500 soldiers from Afghanistan and Iraq in January next year

On November 17, local time, US Acting Secretary of Defense Miller announced that Trump had ordered the Pentagon to withdraw a total of 2,500 US troops from Afghanistan and Iraq in mid-January next year.

The Ministry of National Defense will reduce the number of troops in Afghanistan from 4,500 to 2,500 and the number of troops in Iraq from 3,000 to 2,500 on January 15 next year.

Although the Department of Defense stated that the withdrawal of troops will not affect its local operational goals, some American media still question whether the current conditions in Afghanistan allow the withdrawal of more American troops.

Just a few days ago, the top officials of the U.S. Department of Defense underwent a major change in blood. Many people including the former Secretary of Defense Esper were replaced by the White House.

Some media pointed out that the change was caused by the former Secretary of Defense Esper’s opposition to the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and other places.

It is reported that Trump has repeatedly stated that he will withdraw troops from many places in the Middle East.
