Three people have been killed in a landslide at the Patao Jade mining area in Kachin state, Myanmar

August 20th, at about 16:00 local time, three people were killed in a landslide at the Pakkang mining area in Kachin State, Myanmar.

It is reported that the site of the incident belongs to the prohibited mining area, when 5 people in illegal mining, landslide occurred after 2 of them escaped. Rescuers are still searching for the bodies of the victims, but persistent rain and muddy roads have made the search difficult. The landslide occurred near a local church, where many local residents have been opposed to illegal excavations.

It is also understood that since the end of May this year, at least 10 people have died in local landslides.
