The Gazette said that between the 8 and 17th, 600 students and 472 faculty members across the country were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. At present, 542 classes have been suspended.

Romania’s Minister of Education Kempianu said on the same day that parents should not let their children go to school or kindergarten if they find that their children have symptoms of disease.

Romania is ramping up COVID-19 vaccination efforts, and teachers have been included in priority groups.

Since the coronavirus vaccination began in late December last year, about 735,000 people have been vaccinated in the country, of which about 505,000 have completed two doses.

According to the data released by Romanian officials on the 17th, there have been 2,815 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, with a total of 768,785 confirmed cases; 62 new deaths, with a total of 19,588 deaths.
