According to local media reports on February 3, a 15-year-old girl in the central Greek city of Thiva died that day due to a sharp deterioration of COVID-19

which was also the youngest COVID-19 death in Greece since the outbreak of the epidemic at the end of February last year.

Chiva Mayor Anastasio told the media that he was very saddened to learn about this situation and called on all residents to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention rules.

The hospital where the deceased girl died issued a statement on the afternoon of the 3rd, saying that the unfortunate girl had serious health problems such as diabetes in addition to being infected with the novel coronavirus.

According to other sources, the girl and her father and mother were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus on January 29.

Her mother was sent to a specialized hospital in Athens more than 80 kilometers away for intubation due to her serious condition.

The girl and her father were allowed to go home for quarantine observation due to mild symptoms.

According to the doctor’s instructions, the father and daughter went to the local hospital in Shiva for reexamination on February 1, when the girl was in good health. But on the night of February 2, her health suddenly deteriorated and had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Soon after, the girl died. Experts believe that her death may be caused by cardiac arrest caused by complications of COVID-19, but it is still necessary to wait for autopsy results to confirm.
