In order to better understand White House policy, the new White House press secretary Jen Psaki, equipped a sign language interpreter at a press conference on January 27, the New York Post reported on January 27.
But the sign language interpreter was replaced after only one day on duty because it was reported that the translator himself was a supporter of Trump.
According to the New York Post, 41-year-old sign language interpreter Heather Mesio attended a White House press conference in Pusaki on the 25th.
And on the day of Biden’s inauguration, Meshaw posted a video on the social networking website Facebook called “Right-wing Sign Language Group Thank You President Trump”, and the background music used a song “Y.M.C.A.” played in Trump’s rhythmic video.
She wore a red hat in the video with the slogan “Make America Great Again” (MAGA).
According to Time, the “Right-wing Sign Language Group” is a group on Facebook, and Mayshaw was a group administrator.
The group was deleted by Facebook last November, then reappeared with a different name, and posted videos of Meshaw appearing in sign language.
In addition, Mayshaw has provided a sign language translation for a video featuring Trump’s personal lawyer Giuliani.
These identities of Meshaw were discovered by Jon Henner, an assistant professor of sign language research at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a deaf person.
When he saw Meshaw appear at the Biden administration’s White House press conference on the 25th, he tweeted photos of Meshaw wearing a MAGA hat and a Trump campaign T-shirt.
He told Time that he was very surprised to see that the Biden administration hired a Trump supporter.
According to the report, the sign language translation at the White House press conference has been replaced by others since the 26th, but the White House has not responded to requests for comment from the media.
Meshaw also did not give an interview to the media.
