Jane Pusaki, the White House Press Secretary, said on the 10th that “the vast majority” of immigrants arrested on the U.S. border with Mexico will be repatriated because of the time required for the coronavirus epidemic and the implementation of new measures involving immigrants.

“Now is not the time to come to [the United States].” Pushaki told media reporters that “the vast majority of people will be repatriated” to buy time for the new government to implement “humane” asylum treatment measures.

According to Reuters, 78,000 people tried to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border or enter the United States through border crossings in January this year, but were refused, an increase of 6% over the previous month.

Many people called on the new U.S. government to reverse the immigration restrictions introduced by the previous Republican government.

Democratic President Joseph Biden signed several executive orders on immigration policy after taking office in January.

Since 2018, the scale of Central American immigrants to the United States has been expanding.

Some people in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador traveled thousands of kilometers through Mexico to enter the United States through Mexico due to poverty, violence and other reasons.
