Aug. 20 2021 The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Afghanistan, Ramiz Alakbarov, said the Taliban expressed support for the United Nations and asked the organization’s representatives to remain in Afghanistan to continue humanitarian activities.

He noted that the actual interaction between the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan and the Taliban had continued consistently over an 18-year term.

“We’ve been working with them all this time,” Mr. Alakbarov said. We have established interrelationships in the implementation of humanitarian activities. ”

According to the Coordinator, “no new agreement” had been reached between the Office and the Taliban in recent days.

“We have a working connection,” Alakbarov said. They have been assuring us of their support. They reiterated their support to us and asked us to stay here and provide humanitarian assistance. ”
