The U.S. Treasury Department plans to release $600 in relief this week.

According to Bloomberg on the evening of the 28th, after Trump signed the stimulus bill on Sunday, a U.S. official revealed that the Treasury Department plans to start issuing a direct relief payment of $600 per person this week.

According to the Boston Herald on the 28th, the $600 check is issued to individuals with an annual income of no more than $75,000. Couples with a total annual income of not more than $150,000 will receive a check of $1,200. The government will phase out subsidies for couples with higher incomes. In addition, each dependent child will receive an additional $600 subsidy.

Trump had previously complained about the bill, in part because he thought $600 was not enough, and last week his proposal to send $2,000 directly out shocked members of Congress.

The $2,000 proposal was supported by Democrats, but it was opposed by Republicans.
