February 6th – Andy Slavitt, a senior adviser to the White House Anti-pandemic Task Force, announced on Friday (5th) that the Department of Defense will send 1,000 soldiers to state vaccination centers next week to assist the American people to vaccinate against the novel coronavirus.

According to the Associated Press, Slavitt said that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has approved FEMA requests for assistance, and a large number of military personnel will be sent to vaccination centers in many places.

Slavitt said that military support will play a key role in helping to vaccinate thousands of doses a day.

U.S. President Biden earlier called for the establishment of 100 large-scale vaccination centers in the United States within a month.

About 6.9 million U.S. nationals have been vaccinated by the U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer, which is jointly developed by the German biotechnology company BioNTech, and another U.S. pharmaceutical company, Modena, accounting for about 2% of the country’s population.
