February 3rd – On the 2nd local time, a U.S. official who declined to be named told Reuters that at the request of the White House, Mark Milly, the top military general of the United States and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tried unsuccessfully to contact the Myanmar military after the political situation in Myanmar changed, but failed.
On February 1, the Myanmar military detained Senior State Government Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, President Wen Min and others on the grounds of “election fraud”, and then took over state power and declared a one-year state of emergency in Myanmar.
