December 15 With the approval of the heads of state of China and Russia, on December 15, State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe and Russian Defense Minister Shao Yigu signed the “On the Extension of October 13, 2009” “On Mutual between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Protocol to the Expiry Date of the Agreement on the Launch of Ballistic Missiles and Space Launch Vehicles.

The defense ministers of the two countries also held a videoconference on December 15, stressing the willingness of the two militaries to strengthen practical cooperation on this basis and further enrich the connotation of bilateral relations.

China and Russia signed the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Notification of the Launch of Ballistic Missiles and Space Launch Vehicles on October 13, 2009, which will expire on December 16, 2020.

In accordance with the Protocol signed by the two parties, the validity of the Agreement has been extended for 10 years, with effect from December 15, 2020.
