The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on the 17th that the Consul General of the Ukrainian Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Sosonyuk, is an undesirable person and has asked him to leave Russia within 72 hours from April 19.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that Sosonyuk’s activities are inconsistent with the status of consular officials and undermine Russia’s national security interests.

On 16 April, Sosonyuk was detained for several hours by the Russian Federal Security Service for meeting with a Russian citizen and attempting to obtain inside information from the databases of the Russian Federal Security Service and law enforcement agencies.
