The British royal family issued a statement on the 10th saying that the funeral of the late Prince Philip was scheduled to be held in Windsor Castle on April 17.

Buckingham Palace stated that the funeral was scheduled to be held at 15:00 local time on the 17th at St. George’s Church in Windsor Castle. Before the funeral, Britain will observe a minute of silence.

Under the British monarchy, Prince Philip’s funeral can be held according to the state funeral specifications. However, the royal statement said that according to Prince Philip’s personal will and approval of the Queen, and in accordance with the British government’s epidemic prevention measures, the funeral will be held in accordance with the specifications of the royal funeral, not the state funeral.

Due to the requirements of epidemic prevention in the United Kingdom, the maximum number of funeral participants is 30. The statement said that the participants will be limited to members of the royal family.

The statement also said that the Queen had approved Prime Minister Johnson’s proposal to make the period between Prince Philip’s death and the funeral period a national funeral period. During this period, all British government and military agencies lowered the flag at half-mast.

Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died at Windsor Castle on the morning of April 9 at the age of 99. Prince Philip was born on June 10, 1921. He served in the British Navy and fought in World War II. In November 1947, he married Elizabeth, who had not yet ascended the throne. They have four children.
