February 8 Zimbabwean President Mnangaguwa appointed a number of government officials on the 8th, among which Frederick Shawar, the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
In addition, Felix Mona was appointed Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development and Nokutura Musaikeni was appointed Minister of State Affairs of Manikaran.
Mnangaguwa also appointed three deputy ministers of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Public Information.
In January this year, Zimbabwe’s then Manikaran Provincial Minister Ellen Guarazinba, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sibusiso Moyo, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Joel Matizha died of COVID-19.
Zimbabwe has faced a serious threat of the second wave of COVID-19 so far this year.
As of February 8, there were 34,658 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, including 1,339 deaths and 28,825 cured cases.
