The coronavirus pandemic is changing the wedding banquet customs and wedding customs of South Koreans, and the wedding thank-you market is unexpectedly booming.

Yonhap reported on the 12th that Lee, an office worker in Seoul, held a wedding last month and drastically reduced the number of banquet tables to comply with pandemic prevention and control regulations.

Guests who go to the banquet face two choices. One is to stay at the banquet after the ceremony, and the other is not to attend the banquet, and accept red wine as a thank-you gift instead.

Although Li prepared a lot of red wine, it was not enough and had to buy it temporarily. Observers said that South Korean people minimized the number of dinners during the pandemic, but instead popularated the wedding thank-you market such as red wine and rice cakes.

According to the data of the liquor industry on the 8th, the sales of red wine in the third quarter of Haitezhenlu Group increased by 55% year-on-year. South Korean wine manufacturer Nara Wine Cellar expects sales to increase by 20% year-on-year this year.

Sales of rice cakes used as thank-you gifts on shopping websites G-market and Auction have also increased by 13% and 16% respectively in the past month.
