December 30 Aden: Yemeni government officials said on the 30th that the explosion at Aden International Airport on that day has killed 20 people and injured at least 65 others.

The official, who declined to be named, said that most of the dead and injured were civilians waiting to board the plane at the airport.

The death toll is likely to continue to rise.

There were three consecutive violent explosions at Aden International Airport on the 30th.

At the time of the explosion, many government officials were welcoming cabinet members of the new coalition government returning from Saudi Arabia at the airport.

Local television footage showed that when cabinet members were about to leave the airport, there was a huge explosion in the airport terminal, and thick smoke billowed at the scene, and gunfire followed.

After the incident, the front of the terminal was full of glass and concrete fragments, and many wounded lay on the ground.

At present, cabinet members have arrived safely at the presidential palace in Aden.

In a statement, Yemen’s Minister of Culture and Information, Muammar Iljani, accused the Houthi of planning the bombing. The Houthi side has not responded yet.

On the 18th of this month, Yemeni President Hadi, who has long been working in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, signed a presidential decree announcing the formation of a coalition government with the Southern Transitional Council.

On the 26th, the newly formed coalition government was sworn in in Riyadh, and Hadi presided over the ceremony.

Analysts believe that the formation of a coalition government is the result of a game of external forces, and it remains to be seen whether the new government can completely end the Yemeni civil war and change the state of separation between the north and the south of Yemen.
