Russians can take a driver’s license since the age of 16.

Russian TV reported on the 2nd that the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation issued a new draft administrative regulation on the same day, which stipulates that Russian citizens can take the motor vehicle driving license examination from the age of 16, which is another year earlier than the age of 17 under the current law.

However, when applying for the examination, minors are required to submit a written consent signed by the legal guardian, and after passing all the examinations, a motor vehicle driving license will be issued in accordance with the law.

The new regulations are scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2021. Some Russian experts disagree on this. Russian automotive expert Furmanchuk said: “If you can take a driver’s license at the age of 16, which will pose a fatal threat to others.

Minors in this age group lack responsibility and have not yet formed a complete world view, so they should not be allowed to drive on the road at this age.” Another expert, Oshpov, expressed support.

He said: “I don’t think there is anything wrong with allowing 16-year-old minors to take the driving test. As long as they are required to drive with adults, there is no problem.
