April 3rd local time, Philippines President’s spokesman Harry Locke announced that the Philippine Interdepartmental Joint Anti-epidemic Working Group had decided to extend the state of “enhanced community isolation” in the capital Metro Manila and four surrounding provinces for one week. This means that the Philippine capital and surrounding areas will be “locked down” for another week from April 5 to 11.

Previously, the Philippine government decided to implement the strictest “enhanced community isolation” measures in the capital Metro Manila region and the surrounding provinces of Cavito, Inner Lakes, Bracan and Rizal, which was originally due on April 4.

The current community isolation policy in the Philippines is divided into four levels, namely, enhanced community isolation, improved community isolation, general community isolation, and improved general community isolation. Among them, “strengthening community isolation” is the strictest level.

Recently, the epidemic situation in the Philippines is serious. For two consecutive days, more than 10,000 new confirmed cases have been added in a single day, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases has exceeded 780,000.
