19th May 2021 , French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II issued a joint statement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The three expressed deep concern at the escalating tensions in the Middle East and the resulting civilian casualties and called on both sides to immediately agree on a ceasefire. The three said they would work with international partners to bring about a ceasefire through channels including the U.N. Security Council.

At the same time, the three leaders stressed the urgency of resolving the root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the need to restart effective peace talks to achieve a fair and lasting peace. A two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains essential for a comprehensive peace in the region.

The three leaders also called for no restrictions or obstacles to humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip and that adequate relief deliveries to the population of the Gaza Strip under United Nations coordination would be guaranteed.

On May 18, local time, French President Emmanuel Macron and Egyptian President Sisi held three-way talks in Paris by video link with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and the three agreed to hold further talks in this form in the coming days.
