Agency, the Islamic Republic of Iran reported on the 30th that the Iranian government approved compensation for the families of the victims of the crashed passengers of Ukrainian International Airlines on the same day.

The report said that the Iranian government will compensate the families of the 176 victims on the passenger plane, and will compensate the families of each victim “without distinction as race and nationality” of 150,000 US dollars or the equivalent of euros. Specific compensation is the responsibility of Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

On January 8 this year, a Ukrainian Airlines Boeing 737-800 took off from Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, Iran, for Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, but crashed shortly after take-off. 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board survived.

The Iranian military later issued a statement saying that the passenger plane was shot down “intentionally” by the Iranian military, and the accident was caused by “human error”.
