Twitter said on Wednesday that it would not fully comply with the Indian government’s order to ban some accounts, Japan Daily News reported on February 10.

In recent months, farmers’ demonstrations have broken out in India to protest against the government’s agricultural reform.

The Indian government believes that nearly 1,200 Twitter accounts spread false information and poses a threat to public security, and demands that Twitter block it.

According to the report, Twitter has permanently suspended the use of some accounts, but for other accounts, their use in India is restricted, and information can still be obtained abroad.

Twitter said in a statement that all the suspended accounts do not belong to journalists, news organizations, activists and politicians, because doing so “will violate their fundamental right to freedom of expression under Indian law.”
