After 135 hours of deliberation and debate, the French National Assembly voted to pass the draft anti-secessionist law on the first reading on the evening of the 16th local time.

The draft is considered to be in response to the threat of religious extremism and terrorism to the French people.

The idea of enacting this bill was originally put forward by French President Macron on September 4 last year on the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Third French Republic.

Then on October 16 last year, a terrorist attack on a secondary school history teacher took place in the northwest suburbs of Paris, which shocked the whole country of France because of cruel methods. And it led to the introduction of the bill.

According to the French Ministry of Interior, the French National Assembly has proposed a total of 313 amendments to the draft, which has won the absolute support of the majority Republican Movement, but it is still questioned by minority parties.
