ABC’s local media reported on December 20 local time that the Harris County Health Bureau in Texas confirmed on the 20th that there was a COVID-19 death from Omicron variant. It is reported that this is the first death from the United States from the infection of Omicron variant.

It is reported that the deceased is a man in his fifties who was not vaccinated against COVID-19. According to CNN, Omicron variant are spreading rapidly in the United States. At present, with the exception of Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, confirmed cases of COVID-19 infected with Omicron variant have been found in 48 other states.
