At about 14:45 local time on the 20th, SinoVac Coxing COVID-19 vaccine purchased by Colombia arrived in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, through the Netherlands.

After the vaccine arrived at the warehouse of the Colombian Ministry of Health, the Colombian government held a vaccine reception ceremony, attended by Colombian President Duke, Vice President Ramírez, Chinese Ambassador to Colombia, Blue Tiger and many Colombian government officials.

Colombian President Duke said that China’s Kexing vaccine is the second batch of COVID-19 vaccine received by Colombia. He thanked the two countries for their cooperation in bringing the SinoVac vaccines to Colombia in the short term, and more SinoVac vaccines are expected to arrive in March.

Duke said that the arrival of a SinoVac vaccine will help Colombia achieve nationwide vaccine distribution, and every province, including the Amazon region, will be expected to build a defense line through vaccination. At the same time, he said that vaccines are a life-saving tool, and the first phase of vaccination in Colombia will focus on medical staff and the elderly.

Lan Hu, China’s ambassador to Colombia, said that cooperation in the fight against the epidemic was the top priority of the diplomatic work of China and Colombia in the past year.

The two countries have further strengthened trust through a series of cooperation, hoping that SinoVac vaccines, as a global public product, can play a positive role in the fight against the epidemic and save more lives.

On the same day, many media in Colombia immediately reported on the arrival of SinoVac vaccine. The Ministry of Health of Colombia has previously said that some of this batch of vaccines will be mainly used in the “Amazon Plan” of the Colombian government’s epidemic prevention and control strategy, which covers many regions of Colombia.

The government decided to take the lead in large-scale vaccination programs in these areas due to the emergence of some cases of mutant virus-induced infections found in Brazil, which is different from the phased vaccination programs in other parts of the country.
