According to the Washington Post, a violent explosion occurred at Aden International Airport in Yemen on December 30 local time. So far, at least 22 people have been killed and 58 injured, and no organization has claimed responsibility for this time being.
At about 13:00 local time on December 30, the new members of the Yemeni government returned to Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, by special plane from Saudi Arabia.
According to the video posted on social media, when the special plane of the new government arrived, a violent explosion occurred at the airport, and the ground was blown out of deep holes. Layers of white smoke appeared. People hurriedly took shelter and the scene was chaotic.
According to Saudi media reports, the plane carried Yemeni Prime Minister Marn Abdul Malik Said and his cabinet members, as was also on board by Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Jabbar. At present, all cabinet members of the new government have returned to safety and no one has been injured.
Ali Abdullah Saleh, director of Aden Health, said that the people injured in the explosion have been sent to several hospitals in southern coastal cities, but the death toll is expected to rise further due to the serious situation of 36 injured and the need for major surgery.
