December 14 According to Reuters, British Trade Secretary Truss said on the 13th that the trade negotiations between the United Kingdom and Australia are progressing smoothly.
It is reported that this is Britain’s preliminary position after the latest round of negotiations between the two sides.
“Negotiations with Australia are going well,” Trusss reportedly said in a statement. We exchanged initial tariff preferences (conditions) and had detailed technical discussions on areas such as investment, professional business services and financial services.
In 2019, the total trade in goods and services between the United Kingdom and Australia was 18.5 billion British pounds.
The British government estimates that a free trade agreement will increase British exports to Australia by £900 million.
At present, the United Kingdom is also seeking bilateral agreements with the United States, New Zealand and other countries, and preliminary agreements with Canada and Japan have been reached.
