The arms embargo and asset freeze … The European Union announced that it would extend the sanctions period for Venezuela by one year
The European Council announced on the 12th that it would extend the sanctions against Venezuela until November 14, 2021.
According to a press announcement issued by the European Council on the same day
the decision was made based on the ongoing “political, economic, social and humanitarian crisis” in Venezuela.
Sanctions include arms embargoes, travel bans on 36 Venezuelan government officials and freezing of assets.
The EU began to impose sanctions on Venezuela in November 2017 and has since extended the sanction period several times.
