November 21 Ethiopian President Sahel Walker visited South Africa and held talks with the Chairman-in-Office of the African Union and South African President Ramaphosa. Sahel Walker briefed Ramaphosa on the Essetigre conflict, who informed Sahel Walker that the AU would send envoys to Ethiopia for mediation.

Ramaphosa said that as the Chairman-in-Office of the AU, he has appointed former President of Mozambique, Akin Chissano, former President of Liberia, Ms. Ellen Johnson Serif, and former President of South Africa, Motlanti, as AU Special Envoys to Ethiopia for mediation.

Ramaphosa said that Ethiopia is the headquarters of the African Union and a symbol of African unity. Against this background, the ongoing armed conflict in Ethiopia is of concern to the entire African continent.

Therefore, the main task of the Special Envoys is to involve all parties to the conflict, end hostilities, create conditions for an inclusive national dialogue to resolve all the problems leading to the conflict, and restore peace and stability in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian President Sahel Walker said Ethiopia needs the African Union to assist Ethiopia in finding a solution.

According to local media reports in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Tigre conflict has killed hundreds of people, and 200,000 people may flock to neighboring Sudan for asylum in the future.
