Recently, some experts believe that the possibility of peaceful reunification between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait is declining.
In response, Zhu Fenglian, spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a press conference today (16th) that peaceful reunification and “one country, two systems” are the best way to achieve national reunification, but it will not leave room for any form of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities.
Zhu Fenglian said that peaceful reunification and “one country, two systems” are the best way to achieve national reunification, which is most in line with the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, including Taiwan compatriots.
This policy fully takes into account the reality of Taiwan, fully respects the objective differences between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, and fully safeguardes the interests and well-being of Taiwan compatriots.
We are willing to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification across the Taiwan Straits with the greatest sincerity and efforts.
But whenever there is a slight possibility of a peaceful solution, we will make a hundred times more effort. At the same time, the separatist forces of “Taiwan independence” and their actions openly challenge the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, seriously harm the vital interests of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and seriously endanger the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.
We will never leave room for any form of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities, and always insist on being fully prepared to deal with the intervention of external forces and
“Taiwan independence” separatist activities, with the aim of fundamentally safeguarding the prospects for peaceful reunification of the motherland and promoting the process of peaceful reunification of the motherland. If the separatist forces of “Taiwan independence” persist in going alone or even take risks
we will take all necessary measures to resolutely smash the separatist attempt of “Taiwan independence” and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
