From the 19th to the 28th of this month, those who wish to participate in the presidential election may submit their applications to the High Constitutional Court of Syria.
Under Syria’s constitution, a seven-year term is directly elected by voters, and candidates need an absolute majority of votes to be elected.
President Bashar Al-Assad, who has been re-elected since 2000, has yet to say whether he will run in this year’s presidential election.
