Damascus, November 16 The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 16th that Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister walid al muallem died in morning at the age of 79.
Syrian officials have not announced the cause of Muallem death.
According to Syrian State Television, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualim passed away on the morning of November 16. Al Muallem was born in Damascus, the capital of Syria, in July 1941. He graduated from Cairo University in Egypt in 1963 with a degree in economics and political science.
In 1964, al Muallem joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria and served as Ambassador to Romania, Ambassador to the United States, Assistant to the Foreign Minister, and Deputy Foreign Minister.
He has served as Foreign Minister since 2006.
Mualim has visited China many times, most recently in June 2019.
