Sweden’s first confirmed case of mutant COVID-19 infection from the United Kingdom

According to Reuters just now, the Swedish Public Health Agency said on the 26th local time that Sweden confirmed the first case of mutant COVID-19 infection.

The report said that the case was a traveler from the United Kingdom who was diagnosed with the virus after he was ill and tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The report mentioned that Sarah Byforth, a public health official, mentioned at a press conference on the same day that the traveler had been quarantined and had not detected any other positive cases so far.

According to previous reports, Sweden announced on the 21st that it would ban tourists from neighboring Denmark.

The entry ban will not affect Swedish citizens who travel to Sweden from Denmark or the United Kingdom, but other passengers arriving in Sweden will be refused entry.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry also issued a travel warning prohibiting all non-essential travel to the UK.
