May 11, Ambassador Gui Congyou was interviewed by Swedish Express reporter Branstrom at the embassy.

On the 71st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and The Republic of China and the development prospects of bilateral relations, Ambassador Gui said that May 9 this year marks the 71st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and The Swiss Republic.

Seventy-one years ago, Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with New China, transcending differences in political system and ideology. This reflects the strategic vision and vision of the Swiss leadership and government at that time. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and The Swiss Government, bilateral relations have been developing smoothly.

But in recent years, some Swiss politicians and media people, with cold war thinking and ideological bias, have maliciously made statements attacking and discrediting the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people, and created a series of lies and rumors around China-related issues, grossly interfered in China’s internal affairs, grossly interfered with China’s judicial sovereignty, and seriously interfered with the healthy development of China-Swiss friendly and cooperative relations.

There is no historical grievance, no geopolitical conflict, no real conflict of interest. The two sides have successful experience in developing friendly and cooperative relations beyond political systems and ideological differences, and should focus on consensus, control differences and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

To develop foreign relations, China attaches the greatest importance to mutual respect, equal treatment, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs and win-win cooperation. I hope the Swiss side will go in the same direction as the Chinese side.

Regarding the swiss side’s different views with the Chinese side on some issues, Ambassador Gui said that it is normal for the two sides to have different views and views, and we are willing to engage in dialogue, communication and exchanges with the Swiss side on different views and views. When consensus is not reached, the differences are set aside, the consensus is focused and bilateral relations are pushed forward. We welcome people with different views and perspectives to exchange views.

On how to view Sweden’s exclusion from 5G construction and Ericsson’s development in China, Ambassador Gui said that Sweden’s ban on Huawei is not based on facts, has no legal and factual basis, is a political decision, the normal economic and trade cooperation between the two sides pan-politicized, pan-security, pan-ideological, we firmly oppose.

It is hoped that the Swiss side, in line with the principles of open, fair, fair and transparent market competition and openness, will correct the wrong decision as soon as possible and provide the business environment for Chinese enterprises to operate normally and legally in Sweden. Ericsson’s operations in China are determined by the Chinese market and consumers.

Ambassador Gui also expounded China’s principled position on issues related to Xinjiang and Taiwan.
