According to several media quoting Iraqi officials, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and three of his entourages died after being attacked by a drone in the border area.
The drone attack allegedly targeted the senior commander, who entered Syria from Iraq through the Ghaim border. There are also reports that the bodies of the dead have been transferred to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. The Iranian side has not confirmed or denied any reports.

On January 3 this year, Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Al-Quds Brigade, was killed in an airstrike by U.S. troops outside Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. This incident marked a serious escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States, and Iran subsequently launched a series of attacks on the U.S. military in Iraq in retaliation.
