Spain’s capital Madrid region advances curfew by one hour

January 15th, local time, in the face of the severe rebound of the COVID-19 epidemic, the public health department of Madrid, Spain, announced the strengthening of epidemic prevention measures, and the curfew measures were advanced from 00:00 to 23:00 p.m. the next day.

Between 23:00 p.m. and 6 a.m. every day, residents of the Madrid region must avoid all gatherings with non-cohabitants, and the latest closing hours of the catering industry will be 22:00.

At the same time, the Madrid region announced that it would increase the number of basic health areas restricted to 47 and the number of municipalities and regions to 19. The above measures will take effect from January 18 and last for at least 14 days.

In the past 14 days, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents in Madrid has reached 636.1, and the number of new confirmed cases in the past week has increased by 51%.

Zapatero, the deputy minister of public health of the region, reminded residents to avoid gathering with non-cohabitants at a press conference.
