According to a report by Yonhap News Agency on February 16, officials of the Ministry of Unification of South Korea said on the 16th that the Ministry of Unification has not specifically discussed the assistance to North Korea for the coronavirus vaccine, and will consider this issue when the time is ripe and can win the support of the people.

The person said that it is generally believed within the Ministry of Unification that it is necessary to carry out anti-epidemic cooperation related to the safety of the Korean and Korean people, but relevant issues will be discussed after the vaccination of South Korea and ensuring safety.

Minister of Unification, Lee In-young, has repeatedly expressed his willingness to assist North Korea with the coronavirus vaccine since November last year.

Later, on the 3rd of this month, Li Renrong said at a symposium for foreign media reporters that he would consider the issue of aiding North Korea with the coronavirus vaccine after forming a national consensus.
