February 4 According to South Korean media reports, the National Assembly of South Korea held a plenary session on the 4th, and voted to pass the impeachment case of Judge Lin Chenggen in the case involving judicial abuse with 179 votes in favor, 102 against, 3 abstentions and 4 invalid votes.

It is reported that Lin Chenggen is suspected of intervening in the trial of Tatsuya Kato, the former president and journalist of Japan’s Sankei Shimbun Korea, who was prosecuted for slandering former President Park Geun-hye.

According to the report, this is the first time in South Korea’s constitutional history that the National Assembly has passed an impeachment case by a judge.

Therefore, the impeachment case of Lin Chenggen, a ministerial judge of the Busan High Court, was transferred to the Constitutional Court for trial.

It is reported that Lin Chenggen’s term of office will end on February 28, and it is still unknown whether the Constitutional Court will make a judgment before he leaves office.
