The Food and Drug Safety Department of South Korea (Food and Drug Service) held a final review committee meeting on February 10 and decided to approve the use of the coronavirus vaccine produced by AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Company for adults over the age of 18.

According to Yonhap, this is the first coronavirus vaccine approved in South Korea.

The Food and Drug Service decided to allow AstraZeneca to be put into use in South Korea, given that it has submitted the third phase of clinical results being carried out in the United States.

The Food and Drug Office also prompted in the vaccination precautions that “we need to carefully decide whether to vaccinate the elderly over 65 years old” and recommended that doctors judge whether they can be vaccinated according to the health status of the inoculated personnel.

The Korean Food and Drug Office believes that the adverse reactions reported by the vaccine are within predictable range, and there are no serious adverse reactions in the elderly.

However, the proportion of elderly people in clinical trials is only 7.4%, so doctors still need to judge according to the health of the inoculation subjects.

According to the report, the vaccines were produced by AstraZeneca to the Anton factory of SK Biosciences in Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.

The vaccine was vaccinated in two times, at intervals of 4 to 12 weeks.
